IPL Created Monster Fans, And Now They're Eating Cricket Alive

IPL Created Monster Fans, And Now They're Eating Cricket Alive S o Virat Kohli didn't shake Travis Head's hand. Big deal. Let's talk about what actually happened after. The internet exploded. Clips went viral. Hot takes everywhere. "Kohli is a bad sport." "Kohli showed no class." "Kohli should be ashamed." But then something else happened. Something that makes the handshake drama look like a warm-up act. Travis Head's wife woke up to her phone blowing up with abuse. Threats. Obscenities. Messages telling her husband to die. Messages telling HER to die. For what? For playing cricket. For being good at it. And then — because the universe apparently has a sick sense of humor — Travis Scott got dragged into it too. Not the cricketer. The rapper. Because apparently when you're named Travis, nothing is safe. His comment sections got flooded with cricket fans who couldn't tell the difference between a six and a verse. An American artist got harassment notifications because some keyboard warriors couldn't Google properly. But Here's What Nobody Wants to Talk About The IPL has created a monster. And I'm not talking about the players. Think about what this league has done. It turned cricket into reality TV. It marketed players like celebrities. It encouraged "fan armies." It made team allegiance a personality trait. It gave people a reason to care about a sport they probably never played. And now those same fans think they OWN these players. You think I'm exaggerating? Go look at any cricket player's social media after a big loss. The comments section looks like a crime scene. "You choked." "You cost us the game." "You're a fraud." "Go kill yourself."
